YARES ART is pleased to announce Frank Stella: Mirrored Boxes + Atlantic Salmon Rivers, an exhibition showcasing mid-scaled sculptures by one of the most prolific and innovative living American artists.

Featuring fourteen mixed-media works, dating from 2020 through 2024, the exhibition displays Stella’s remarkable innovation and unwavering commitment to pushing artistic boundaries. Utilizing a variety of materials, including printed vinyl mesh, stainless steel, aluminum, and his custom hard acrylic, eSLA RPT, Stella’s sculptures transcend the limitations of painting and sculpture, combining cutting-edge technology with traditional artistic techniques to create awe-inspiring pieces that redefine spatial dynamics and challenge perceptions of form.

The incorporation of eSLA RPT, a dense moldable plastic shaped into swirling colors, such as futuristic lime green tubes and hot pink spikes in Stella’s suspended sculptural creations, such as The Miramichi (Version 1) 2x and The Restigouche 1x (2021), allows the artist to imbue static works with the illusion of organic, undulating movement. In addition to the exhibition atYares Art, colossal sculptures by the artist are concurrently installed at the Jeffrey Deitch gallery in SoHo.This collaboration highlights Stella’s masterful evolutions and agile variations of scale as exemplified in the two versions of The Grand Cascapedia from the Atlantic Salmon Rivers series on display at Yares Art (6 1⁄2 x 6 x 2 1⁄2 ft) and at Jeffrey Deitch (15 x 27 x 11 ft).

Born in Malden, MA, Frank Stella rose to prominence in 1959 when his groundbreaking abstract Black Painting series were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, just after he graduated from Princeton University. He went on to develop his distinctive three-dimensiona and colorful hybrid painted metal reliefs, which earned him international acclaim. A major touring museum retrospective of his work debuted at the Whitney Museum of American Art, October 30, 2015. He lives and works in New York.

Frank Stella’s work is included in many prominent public and private art collections throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York; The Menil Collection and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston; the Art Institute of Chicago; the National Gallery of Art and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.; the Tate Gallery in London; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven; among other institutions.
