The Cité d'architecture et du patrimoine presents, with the support of Yares Art, Chromoscope. This exhibition begins a series presented by art historian Matthieu Poirier exploring Color Field and Post-Painterly Abstraction from 1955 to 1992. The exhibition brings together twenty-three major large-format paintings by its key figures–including Helen Frankenthaler, Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski, Larry Poons and Frank Stella–from artist estates and private collections. In the immediate wake of Abstract Expressionism, these artists forged a distinctive atmospheric and sensorial pictorial field, defined by the fluidity of pigments, the circulation of the gaze, and the immediacy of the canvas.

CHROMOSCOPE is on view at the Cité d'architecture et du patrimoine in Paris, France from OCTOBER 22, 2025 to FEBRUARY 16, 2026.
